Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo)


Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo) is one of four Constituent Colleges of Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA). The other three are Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College, Stefano Moshi Memorial University College and the Josiah Kibira University College. In addition TUMA has one Teaching Centre, the Mbeya TUMA Teaching Centre. TUDARCo was awarded its Letter of Interim Authority on 1st July 2004 and its Certificate of Provisional Registration on July 14th 2005.


Certificate of Full Registration was granted in 2007. TUDARCo was awarded its Charter on 20th August, 2013 by HE The President of the United Republic of Tanzania. TUDARCo is owned by the Lutheran church, however, recruitment of staff and admission of students is irrespective of their faith.
TUDARCo joined the Tumaini University family on 1st April, 2003 having existed since 1997 as Waldorf College Tanzania. It has since grown from 249 students during 2004/2005 academic year to over 2,300 students during 2013/2014 academic year.
These students were initially enrolled in three degree programmes, namely – the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Service (BALIS) and the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). The range of degree
Programmes has grown from three to seven and now includes the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication (BMC), Bachelor of Arts in Information Management (BIM), Bachelor of Human Resources Management (BHRM) and Bachelor of Arts with Education (BAED).
In addition, the College offers two Diploma Programmes, namely Diploma in Business Administration and Management (DBAM), Diploma in Law (DL) and three Certificate Programmes which are Certificate in Law (CL), Certificate in Accounting and Business Administration (CABA) and Certificate in Records Management (CRM).
The first batch of students graduated in 2004 and since then graduations have been held each year. The College student population has grown over the years and the College has expanded its teaching facilities, starting from one Campus rented at Tanganyika Motors in the city centre to three more rented facilities at Kurasini Lutheran Congregation, Kinondoni Lutheran congregation and the Tanzania Institute of Education and lastly its own and permanent premises at the Light Industries Area in Mwenge where all student and staff are accommodated in a brand new and very modern ten storey building. The building has modern teaching and learning facilities. The building has the capacity to accommodate over 2,500 students.
Vision Statement
TUDARCo shall be centre of excellence for knowledge transfer, from one generation to another, trained human resources and job creators, and promotion of national unity through teaching, research, training, consultancy and community service to the nation, region and international community at large.
Mission Statement
Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College is a Christ Centred University College focusing all its programmes through the guidance of and obedience to the word of God by conducting and promotinghigher education, learning, research and community services through scientific fact finding and enquiries, to all students without any form of discrimination.
The Broad objective of TUDARCo is to be the Centre of excellence in providing good quality education through training in short and long courses and tailor made programmes, certificates, diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and sustainable research and consultancy activities.
Some of the specific objectives of TUDARCo include:

  1. The provision of courses leading to Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates and other awards of the Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College, and as directed by relevant University organs.


  2. The production of College graduates who are sensitive and responsive to community needs and who are able to plan, organize, Co-ordinate and evaluate programmes aimed at meeting those needs.
  3. The global serving at the Church and extension of educational programmes of the College to a diverse community of God’s people.
  4. The acceleration of the peace of human resources development in Socio economic, academic and research fields.
  5. The development of resources from which spiritual breezes will spring and spread out far and wide for the renewal of the Church and Society as a whole, as a realization of hopes and expectations of ELCT-ECD and the ELCT in general.
